This is the place where you can personalize your profile!
But, how?
By moving, adding and personalizing widgets.
You can drag and drop to rearrange.
You can edit widgets to customize them.
The left side has widgets you can add!
Some widgets you can only access when you get a premium membership.
Some widgets have options that are only available when you get a premium membership.
We've split the page into zones!
Certain widgets can only be added to certain zones.
"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.
Don't forget, restraints can bring out the creativity in you!
Now go forth and astound us all with your devious profiles!

I just spent a little bit writing this so I'm gonna post it here, as your oh-so-thoughtful thread was locked:
See? This is exactly what I mean. God, you fucking crazy libertarians are all the same. You act like companies are rosy-cheeked innocent little children with no responsibility, and the gov't is some insane, overbearing schoolmarm. "B-b-b-b-but they were just making money, like they're suppoooooosed to!" Yes, they were making money after paying off congress to allow their industry to deregulate, so they could make massive amounts of cash in the least ethical way possible.
Goddamn man, how thick are your blinders?

how can you ask me how thick my blinders are when you KNOW you're wearing blinders of your own? i can understand neither your denial nor your animosity.
let's imagine for a moment the worst-case scenario: that companies are run and managed by sadistic racist assholes (incredibly, they manage to keep people on the payroll) and who will sacrifice everything for the bottom line--even their own futures--as long as it fattens their secret swedish bank accounts. let's even say that they they derive all their powers and freedoms from lobbyists they hire to essentially bribe washington officials (even though they get it from the same place any individual gets power and freedom, but nevermind all that).
these companies are still the sellers in the economy whether the government intervenes in it or not. before the government intervened, things were looked at as bad by some. these companies often caused great amounts of suffering just for the sake of profit. most people, however, thought things were good. they were comfortable and a great many prospered. then, when the government got involved, look what happened. now EVERYBODY is worrying about an enormous recession AND the addition of a trillion-dollar bailout which will be passed on to our kids and grandkids. every piece of deregulation was one more step to get the government back to where it should be--out of the economy.
you have to understand, no capitalist believes they can eradicate all the problems in the world. capitalism is simply the system which best allows an imperfect species like ourselves to live in relative peace.
hm. you take my argument to a level of hyperbole i simply never stated.
the simple fact is, it was not government deregulation that got us in this mess. the blame rests on the shoulders of those in charge of these companies. they made idiotic business decisions, and if you truly were a free market capitalist, you'd say fuck em and let em live with their mistakes. instead you're saying 'oh welllll, uhhhh, that's just a roadblock in the path to getting the government out of business.' uh, hello? the government is going to get more involved because THESE COMPANIES, not the government, FUCKED UP.
but then again, you're the head of some ayn rand circlejerk college political party. i don't expect much logic from you.

"if you truly were a free market capitalist, you'd say fuck em and let em live with their mistakes."
that's EXACTLY what i'm saying! that's why i oppose bailouts!
let's say the companies did fuck up, and that making money by taking advantage of a situation is not what they were supposed to be doing. i still say let them fail, and you say the government needs to get involved. where do you think the government is going to get the power and the money to get involved?? by involving the government, you're involving US and you're involving OUR money. rather than let the companies suffer the consequences of (what you describe as) their idiotic business decisions, you want to bail them out!
i'm not the head of the objectivist party. i'm the president of one of its smallest affiliates. it is also consciously not an ayn rand circlejerk--i make sure of that. like i told you, i've only read one book by rand and it was okay. i'm much more interested in the idea that any political issue can be seen as a conflict between individual liberty and state control.
